Everyone involved in the metal scene ought to take a gander..

Because this has to be by FAR the most controversial argument that seems to be becoming more and more evident each day...Not just here, but everywhere you go...It's inevitable, unfortunately.

And by all means, I'd love for people to post their opinions on the subject.

This all happened when my friend Matthew posted the following in his status on Facebook, and thus erupted into this lengthy conversation:

That's the whole fucking reason why i deleted my account to begin with: the grade school drama. Get fucking over yourselves. Honestly. Grow up and find something better to do with your time rather than go on fucking braveboards and rag on others and criticize their tastes in music, or how much some band sucks, or how you're not going to this show and list the following reasons as to why. I've talked to people like Malignancy, Incantation, Funerus, Deamon, etc...All these bands have been around for well over 10+ years and are signed so some bullshit label that does absolutely nothing for them...They deserve far more considering the time and effort they've invested into what they do and love...And it's people like them that give me inspiration to keep going because they're not in it for the money.

Metal isn't just a genre, it's FAR more than that. It's your way of life, your philosophy, your shoulder to cry on in times of need, it's there for you when no one else is. Yes, that's my fucking sappy emo bullshit for tonight, but it's the plain and simple matter-of-fact truth. Music is more than just my passion...My entirety revolves around music and metal. And I'm sure you can all say the same, especially for those who have stood true for all these years, and more to come. Good for you.

But also...Don't bash on the "kids" coming to shows. They're the new generation of us. Remember when we were young going to shows? Congratulate them on starting young. Good for you, guys. You're keeping the scene going.

And I've been avoiding the touchy subject about women in metal and attendance at metal shows. Yes! YES I'd LOVE nothing more than to see more, true to their word, female metalheads come out more often. I completely agree with that statement Em. Though I don't really see how anyone could deny it anyway. I've struggled to be taken seriously in the scene just as any other woman. Mainly so I could just go to shows and enjoy myself without having to deal with bullshit. I think I've earned my respect now and generally I don't get any shit. But, thats the way it should be considering I bust my ass to buy merch and support the bands. hahaha.

I've had some conversation with these women though that perpetuate the skank stereotypes. Let me tell you, their logic is down right scary. Scary.
