- We're "In Shadows Embrace" We finally have the line-up we want. Brothers Adam and Mike on the guitars steve on bass Jay on vocals and Nick on drums. In Shadows Embrace first started in late 2007 with brothers Mike Z. and Adam Z. on guitar, and friend Walter Kelly on vocals and drums. Paul, a co-worker of Mike’s, was soon brought in to take over the drummer duties and free Walter up to focus on lyrics. All they needed now was a bass player. Adam Z. turned to Wes, an old friend and the singer for diM, for help. He recommended a friend of his, currently between bands. Steve Carter was then brought on to fill the position. With a full line up, the band started to work on material and define their sound. The band soon hit a brick will with the loss of Paul on drums, and Walter on vocals. By this time, the band knew what they were looking for in a drummer, and soon found that in Nick Robinson. Tony, Nick’s father, saw an ad the band had posted on Craig’s List and quickly set up an audition for his son. It was a perfect fit! Casey Thompson was then brought in to fill Walter’s spot. A short time later, Walter returned to the band. With Walter and Casey having two distinctly different vocal styles and abilities, the band saw an opportunity for a unique sound. They kept the band as a six piece; fusing Walter’s aggressive screaming style with Casey’s melodic softer voice. The band began booking shows and wowing audiences. Walter soon left the band again to pursue a career outside of music, leaving a hole in the sound the band had worked so hard to create. The band then auditioned Jay Mctaggart, the former singer for Default Chaos. There was an apparent chemistry, but the band did not immediately hire Jay. After doing a few shows as a five piece, it was decided that the band was not moving in the direction needed to keep the sound they had worked so hard to build. Jay was then brought in for a follow up audition. This was it, the perfect line up! Jay was able to put the heavy screams and softer melodies together in one package. The band has since begun to put shows with several national acts under its belt, and begun work on its first studio release. This is only the beginning for In Shadows Embrace! This band has an incredible work ethic and drive that will take them straight to the top. This drive and work ethic coupled with a live show that never disappoints a crowd, is a sure recipe for success!
