Why do you think PANTERA is the most influential metal band?

BECAUSE:

1. PANTERA MEANT WHAT THEY PLAYED, IF PHIL SAID IT HE MEANT IT!

2. WHEN OTHER BANDS WERE CRYING BECAUSE NIRVANA FUCKED THINGS UP, PANTERA STAYED THE COURSE.

3.WHEN METALLICA'S DICK'S FELL OFF AND THEY HAD TO GET PROFESSIONAL HELP(THEY EVEN MADE A MOVIE CALLED SOME KIND OF PUSSY'S) PANTERA STAYED THE COURSE.

4.THEY MOVED, THEY GROOVED AND THEY FELL DOWN DRUNK, BUT DIDN'T MISS A BEAT.

5.DIME IS TO METAL WHAT EDDIE VAN HALEN IS TO ROCK( FUCKING AMAZING), PHIL IS THE MOST WELL ROUNDED VOCALIST IN METAL AND VINNIE AND REX WERE TIGHTER THAN A FROGS ASS IN A BLIZZARD.

THESE ARE JUST A FEW REASON'S WHY I THINK THEY WERE SO INFLUENTIAL, THERE ARE SO MANY I COULD SIT HERE ALL DAY AND LIST REASONS,SO, LET'S JUST SAY THEY KEPT METAL ALIVE FOR US BECAUSE THEY LOVED US AND METAL!

i agree Steve.
They just really did whatever the fuck they wanted with their music. no rules. just made it sound fucking evil and heavy. they didn't want to fit into any type of "genre" all they wanted was to make heavy fucking music you can break stuff to. Music everyone will actually remember. instead of all the modern "difficult music" almost every band tries to play these days. most bands want to make songs that are hard to play. and those songs end up sounding like shit. I'm not saying all bands. but most of em.
Pantera to me is the most influential band because they played 101% PURE METAL, and KEPT playing it no matter what. No replacements. They knew nobody in that band could ever be replaced. they knew they were the greatest! And they never took anything for granted. They knew what the fans wanted.

THE MOVIE WAS BEING MADE FROM 2000 - 2003 RELEASED IN 2004, PANTERA BROKE UP IN 2003. METALLICA'S DICKS FELL OFF RIGHT AFTER THE BLACK ALBUM AND THEY TURNED INTO PUSSY'S SO THEY COULD SELL RECORDS TO GRANDMA'S AND GRANDPA'S WHICH LED TO US HAVING TO LISTEN TO A DECADE OF SHIT, PANTERA NEVER DID THAT TO US AND I AM SURE NEVER WOULD HAVE,

1. Phil was the greatest vocalist to pick up a mic for any Rock Genre. He had a voice more powerful than any other vocalit I've ever heard.
2. Dime was a guitar god. Just about any kid who picks up a guitar and wants to learn was inspired to do so by Dime, myself included.
3. Vinnie was a phenominal drummer. Still is.
4. Rex was a wizard with his bass. If it was any more pronounced, one could hear just how much effort he'd put into it.
5. When Metal was out of style, Pantera stuck it out and bitch slapped the mainstream with a fist full of Metal.

1. Anyone who names themselves Dimebag is righteously fucking cool.
2. They "shocked" when they came out with Cowboys from Hell and Phil shaved his head. The first time you saw them you were stunned not unlike seeing Kiss open up and destroy the other bands on their first tour. They opened for Manfredd Mann's Earth Band and Savoy Brown in 1975 and they fucking killed. You left that show with your jaw dropped to the ground - What the Hell was that? When I saw Phil and his shaved head it was like " Is he a skin head? WTF? Then Dimebag's guitar let you know they were no bullshit, just like Ace Frehley.
3.Once they locked on what they were gonna be, they took no prisoners. Each and every album was harder and stronger than the last and every time you could not believe this could be accomplished. One album drops and you would go , well that is fucking it they can't get any harder than THAT! And you would be wrong every time!
4. One if not the BEST live album by a band, provong the shit was real and they were too. Jimi Hendrix at Woodstock and Kiss Alive 1 the only other albums that compare.
5. The subtle excellence of Vinnie Paul, when you hear him today you know he is the BEST drummer alive. Those albums are thunderous and only matched by Alex Van Halen. Neil Peart perhaps the BEST overall but Vinnie Paul is the king of metal drumming. Even Tommy Lee asked Vinnie how he lays out the thunder boom on "Becoming"
I rest my case.

I don't know man, Joey Jordison of Slipknot is a phenominal drummer. If anyone can compare to Vinnie Paul or Dave Lombardo, it's him. Joey is the fucking man. Listen to his solo on 9.0 live and you'll see why. But no doubt, Vinnie is one of the top drummers in Metal.

The thing with Pantera is that they were able to capture anyone's attention with their powerful sound. They had a very groovy sound which anyone in metal or out loved. Over more each musician had a unique style and mastered in their element which gained them respect even from those who didn't like their music. They were very human and stuck to their guns even when things weren't great. I've heard a lot of non metal bands say that Pantera were an inspiration and that comes to show you just how good they were. Not only technical wise but overall. They had a true talent period.

Easy, they didn't fuckin sell out! Hands down one of the best Metal bands of all time.
