"The Blevins Studio is the home of Art and Ginny Blevins, sculptors and artists. Mandy Devere, a committee member for the Dimebag Memorial, has contacted Art and Ginny to sculpt Dime in bronze. The Blevins' realize the impact that Dime had upon thousands of people, and not just fans. They are aware of the heart of this man and the things he did for others, including complete strangers. Whether people like Metal or great guitar players, singers or songwriters,it is time to have a first class bronze to honor one of the very best. The musical ability of Dime will be legendary and the Blevins Studio will be honored to be a part of the Memorial.
As a uniquely capable team, Art and Ginny bring over 30 years experience in portrait sculpture.A great portion of that work has been dealing with portraits of deceased individuals. Their methodology includes hours of researching photographs, videos when available, and interviews with those who knew the subject well - all to produce a portrait that not only looks like the subject but captures his unique personality. That essence will tell not only what that person looked like but ultimately his "life story" as well. The way he stood, the way he held his head, his forcefulness, confidence, and gentleness will be reflected. They strive to capture the spirit of the person. They are experienced in all facets of the process from design implementation to final installation.
The Blevins' are willing to assist the family in locating and securing a proper place for the Memorial, including working with the necessary city or state officials. Also, they will advise and help design or have built the base for the statue to be placed upon and the foundation necessary under the base.
A final suggestion regarding funding, should it be needed; a 10" or 12" bronze maquette can be made and sold to bring in additional money. Frankly, we think that as many fans and friends that Dime had, the maquettes won't be necessary unless they are simply wanted. The number cast is virtually unlimited.
In addition, the Blevins' are willing to sculpt and have cast a plaque reflecting the faces, in relief, and necessary verbiage to honor the other 3 people killed.
